Plan:
I am pursuing an education at the University of Florida, expecting to
graduate in 2004. I intend to graduate with a degree in computer science
and physics or English and to move on to graduate studies.
Education:

Honors Program. Currently majoring in history (medieval focus) and
in English (creative writing focus). 3.16 cumulative GPA; 3.70 in computer
science and 3.90 in English.
- August 1997-May 2000 · Walter L. Sickles High School, Tampa, FL
Earned a high school diploma with a 5.9 weighted GPA, 3.86 unweighted GPA.
Ranked 4th in a class of 580. Graduated with honors. National Honor
Society, Mu Alpha Theta (math competition club), Founder, 3 years
President. Tampa Tribune Honors Scholar. National Merit Scholar. Forum of
Gryphons (student government) Treasurer. 6 AP classes - 5 senior year (AP
Calculus BC, AP Physics B, AP English: Literature, AP Chemistry, AP
Psychology), and 1 junior year (AP US History).
Experience:
- July 2000-present · Student Access and Computing Group, UW, Seattle, WA
- February 2002-present: Web Team Member. Performed various roles (including
team lead, head programmer, head designer, etc.) on various web sites for
our department and other departments throughout the UW. Heavy emphasis on
coding (mostly in Perl) and on aesthetic design skills.
- July 2000-February 2002: Student Lab Consultant. Assisted clients with computing difficulties;
taught workshops on computing on campus for freshman orientation; led
workshops on hardware and software for the GEAR-UP program. Also did some
web work and, during this time, have become proficient in the use (and
repair) of PCs, Macintoshes, and UNIX machines. During Spring 2001, I
taught a 10-week seminar on Linux for beginners to a group of 6 other
staff members. My current project involves leading the team that is
redesigning and centralizing the entire workshop and training process--the
walk-in workshops we offer to students, staff, and faculty each quarter.
- January 2002-present · DrakNet, Cedar Park, TX (telecommuting)
Tech support staff. Helped customers with web hosting-related issues, from
password resets to domain installations to DNS screw-ups.
- August 2001-present · History News Network, Seattle, WA, unpaid internship
Article editing and posting; preparing articles for the web; brainstorming
of new projects, ideas, and articles.
- May 1999-May 2000 · Henry H. Smith and Company, Algonac, MI
Web design and data entry specialist. Used pcANYWHERE, Peachtree
Accounting, MS Office, and did web design using standard text editors.
- October 1999-April 2000 · Academic Assistance Center, AOL, volunteer position
Tutored in high school mathematics, high school English, and middle school
science. Also served as a queuekeeper and teacher aid.
- August 1997-present · Raven's Claw Publishing, Odessa, FL and Seattle, WA
Self-employed web design; have produced web sites for Sickles Mu Alpha
Theta, and for individuals. My current projects are the College of St.
Bunstable (the SCA group on campus) and Elsewhere's Unlimited, the art of
Ruth T. Lampi of Bellingham, WA. Through this, I've taught myself HTML,
cascading stylesheets, PHP, the basics of Perl, and basic Java and
JavaScript.
