Here are the pictures taken 8 August 2000 of me in my 6th century Irish bard costume. (I use it for SCA events -- as Brandubh an Daimh -- and for fantasy cons, like OryCon.) The green robe and black/green cloak are from Cookai (www.cookai.com), and she does excellent work, I might add; other than the fact that it is absolutely perfect for this look (so says a 1784 text, among others, and I'll post the name of that text as soon as I figure out what I did with my spiral notebook ;) ), it also looks really neat and is extremely comfortable/neat for wearing. Underneath the green robe is one of gray raw silkcloth, made by a good friend of mine. It is big (covers from neck to toe and the sleeves are longer than my hands), warm, and my favorite robe for events and for sleeping (usually with the green one over it, as seen in these pictures. ;) ) It's larger than the green one, and can be seen from my ankles to feet and little bits show at the sleeves, which creates a pretty neat layered look on top of protecting from the wind and keeping me warm, although it doesn't come out too well in these pictures. The make-up was designed and put on by a close RL friend, who, I might add, is very good at what she does. :) Face - from front In case anyone's curious where these are taken... in front of Mercer Hall, here at the University of Washington. Kinda neat, no? Everywhere on campus is this beautiful, if not more so. ;) Seattle rocks for that, among other things. Some more pictures -- On the bus to a Halloween party in Kitsap -- It's the 72 Metro to downtown... I am in full costume and make-up, but the picture kinda makes it hard to tell. Next to me is my roommate Adam -- he went as a specific sniper, and there's a clue in the picture. E-mail me with the right answer and win bonus points. ;) 31 October 2000, duh. Me at OryCon, in the hallways. (It's a fantasy convention, full-costumed event. I didn't have the make-up on, but I was, obviously, in full costume.) Unfortunately, me being a po' college student, I could only afford one of those one-time use cameras, so quality/flash kinda sucks. 18 November 2000. The stuffed cow in both of those is the infamous Count Sigmund the Bovinous. He has his own e-mail address, AllAdvantage.com account, and was a Moo Alpha Theta member last year. He'll have a web page soon...:) And these are from Sakura Con, an anime convention here in Seattle. I went as Himura Kenshin, the only male Kenshin there...;) For the record, the scar was henna and lasted for twelve days, much to the amusement of my boss Monday morning. ;) (29 April 2001) Me in the hallways Some slightly more updated pictures, from March 2002: Me in an archway. Probably my favorite picture of me. | ||
